Run away from LG refrigerators

First issue is I bought the stainless model and it dents very easily. Second issue is that on Aug 17th of 2024 the unit stopped cooling. I contacted LG on 8/20/2024 have had 1 tech out 3 times a 2nd tech out once and am now waiting for another tech as the issue has not been resolved. I have been without a working refrigerator for 5 weeks. I would advise to buy another brand. I have lost two loads of food and I see no resolution in sight. Customer service people are nice but not especially effective. No one really seems to know what is going on. DO NOT BUY AN LG FRIDGE.

Stay away from this refrigerator

This refrigerator was a major disappointment. The linear compressor stopped working while away on a trip I came home to a fridge full of spoiled food. It was only 3 1/2 years old My extended warranty expired 3 months before. It was not possible to take the fridge to a licensed repair technician because l live in a remote area. The LG customer service rep would only send me a new compressor if I was a licensed tech. I went back to the big box store where I purchased it and to add insult to injury the sales man said these fridges only last 3-5years he said it matter of factly like he sees it all the time.Also found out there was a class action lawsuit for LG linear compressors not lasting but a few years. I had to buy a new fridge NOT an LG. Will never buy LG again.

This machine when it works is wonderful. Unfortunately it is plagued by the same compressor issues that previous models have been involved in lawsuits over. While LG is supplying extended service we had to wait over a week and its still not working properly. To the service companys credit they came back out to take a look the same day we called back but LGs service has been horrible. We had over $550 worth of food we had to throw away and they only offered $300 to replace our food loss. In addition to that they claimed they would email me immediately but then sent a text saying that I would get an email within the next 7-10 days. Then direct deposit only happens on Tuesdays and Fridays but may take up to 2 weeks to see on my end. With todays technology I should be able to get emails and direct deposits instantaneously. I would give a zero for customer service and a three for product

Horrendous Experience

My refrigerator is 3 years old and has been broke for a month I have contacted LG 6 times because it is under warranty and still have no resolution. Every time I contact LG they tell me they have no record of me contacting them I have email and text proof of my conversations with LG. They keep stating they will find someone in my area to service m y refrigerator however they never follow thru it has been 4 weeks. I am contacting the BBB and Dept of Consumer Affairs. I will never purchase another LG product just because of the horrendous run around from their customer service.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My elderly mothers fridge is 3 1/2 yrs old and we are 6 days out waiting for a service call Spoiled food then cooler food. The worst thing about this is we have been through this before with the same issue..the compressor It does have a 10 yr warranty but unless you can manage the hoops you must jump through in order to get a new one you may as well do what we did and put it to the curb and called it a loss. Excuse after excuse from both the manufacturer and the service provider for me. They claim they cant find service for my mom and when I call Im told Assurion must do the scheduling Maybe Allstate will do better. Buyer beware.

I am extremely disappointed with the entire experience Ive had with LG regarding their fridge products and services. I purchased three fridges in total and each step of the process has been frustrating. First the in-home delivery and installation services were terrible. The first two fridges I ordered didnt fit in my kitchen area despite the fact that the tech only took measurements. They never even saw the space where the fridge was supposed to go. This could have been avoided with a proper assessment. For the third fridge I was convinced to buy a very small outdated model reminiscent of my grandmas fridge a simple two-door design with a top freezer and optional ice maker. When the installation team arrived they werent even able to install it. To make matters worse on Day 0 I discovered a 3-inch crack on the door making it clear that the product was defective. Its been a week since I reported the issue and I still havent received any communication regarding my refund or credit. The lack of follow-up has only added to my frustration. In summary LGs customer service and product quality have been incredibly disappointing. I would strongly advise against purchasing from LG based on my experience.

The only thing I can complain about is the response time for the service. I lost over $300 in food and it took over a week to come and service my product. Jury is still out

The Jury is still out. This is the 3rd one I have purchased. The last two had compressor issues that LG couldnt fix nor replace them so they gave me my money back. This is the only bottom freezer unit sold in the USA that will fit my 30 inch gap. The first few hours it make a very high pitch noise but eventually quite down. I love the fridge and the design but I went thru so much pain last two units I dont want to get my hopes up. Wish me luck that LG resolved the problem with the compressor.

Do not buy LG warranty is a hoax

Ours lasted 5 years and 4 months a compressor failure just after the warranty expired. LG does not have repair service in our area and will not repair at any price. Local techs will not touch it because LG stuff is hard to repair. There is supposed to be a 10 year warranty on the compressor but after 4 hours phone time with LG customer service mostly on hold I have given up. They will only send the compressor to the technician-the one who doesnt work on LG. They will not ship to the customer.

Awesome overall for LG standing by its customer

I bought this product approximately. 3 years ago. Until one week ago I was highly satisified with my purchase but then my refrigerator ubruptly stopped cooling. We lost approximately $700.00 in groceries and another $1000.00 in medication. To say I was angry and upset would be a gross understatement. I swore off LG products However my told me to call LG warrenty. I did and was surprised with their professional and prompt response. In a prompt manner they set up an appointment to service my unit and the tech assured me that LG recognized that the unit was determined to have a faulty compressor. He replaced it with an upgraded part and assured that I would enjoy my refrigerator for many years to come. Due to LGs professionalism I reserce my interst to upgrade my product rating. But I give LG a 5 out of 5 overall. Thanks LG

Awful product and service

We bought this refrigerator in 2018 and had to have the motherboard replaced during the COVID shutdown. It took LG from July to September to find a part and have their repairman come to fix it. Our icemaker went out in 2023. Now June 2024 our compressor failed and they will over the replacement part but not the work which would cost over $2000. Also they were not able to find their own technician to do the work I had to find someone to do it and send LG their contact information. Needless to say we have purchased another refrigerator from a different company/brand altogether. We will not be purchasing anything made by LG in the future or their sister brands.

Very disappointed my refrigerator was only 4 years old and it needed a new compressor. Had to wait five days to get it serviced which was a very big inconvenience plus the fact I lost everything in my freezer and most in my fridge. I am very grateful for the $150 food warranty however the food I lost was worth way more than that. It was also difficult to understand the gentlemen who tried to help me over the phone regarding the food warranty. The positive outcome was that someone was clearly on top of the refund because I received it in a timely manner.

They were very respectful give them a tip. Everything was just great very polite and a LGs took care of me pretty good I appreciate it.

Ive owned this refrigerator for almost 3 years now. Things I like good lighting roomy easy to adjust shelves. Quiet operation. Warning chime if door gets left open. Things that could be better does not like being in a corner... if you cant open the door all the way some drawers etc. are not easy to use. Top drawer in the freezer doesnt pull out far enough to get large items in and out as easy as Id like. What I dont like? Cleaning the vents on the back of the refrigerator. You HAVE to pull the unit out from the wall a few times a year to clean them off. Its not like old refrigerators that you could vacuum from the front you have to pull the unit out all the time which can cause issues with the water line for the ice maker over time.

If youre old like me... READ THIS Do not just look under the front of the refrigerator for built up dust bunnies... the intake and exhaust are both on the back. Of you dont pull the refrigerator out from the wall every few months and clean the intake you will not be happy. That being said the LG refrigerator has been great. Good Ice quantity in the tray not too loud and great storage for a slightly narrow unit. Warranty is great customer service is great. Buy one vacuum the vent every few months and enjoy a great appliance

LG fridge stopped cooling after 5 yr warranty expired. Bought in July 2019 2024 breaks. Now I must pay $516 to fix plus waste $100s worth of food and have a big frustration HEADACHE. LG has well known issues and class action lawsuit for their inferior compressor so much so they give the part free but you must pay exorbitant labor cost for their poorly designed product. Do not ever buy LG unless you have more money than brains.

Loss at least $1000 in meat/freezer food. Compressor went out but was still in warranty. We were unable to get it repaired since there was not an LG repairmen assigned to our area. LG service told us to call a local appliance repairman. One refused to service any LG appliances stating they were poorly made and that a class action lawsuit is pending. 2 other companies quoted repair prices of $1200 -$1600 at least. It was cheaper to buy a new refrigerator/freezer. Bought a different brand. Very disappointed in LG

For the first three years no problem until now. I had to replace the compressor and that wasnt fun. My refrigerator began to make a popping sound for several weeks and then it stopped cooling. So I lost most of my food because it happened overnight.

I bought this a month ago and love it. So much more space than my old fridge. I like the door open alarm. The ice bin holds approximately 10lbs of ice. The only downfall is a gallon of milk only fits on the door shelve but getting used to it. It doesnt make much of a noise. Shelves are easy to clean and reach.

Bought this fridge freezer 5 years ago. After about 2 years the black coating started to peel of - leaving unsightly areas on the doors. This weekend it stopped working completely. We called a service company who told us it was low on Freon - and if they fix it will be well over $1k. We are hoping LG honors their warranty on linear compressor - but even them - that will only be for parts - we will have to pay additional $ for the labor Weve never had a fridge/freezer break down so quickly. The one we replaced is still working away in the garage

The technician that was sent was great What I was very unhappy about is the serial number on my refrigerator did not match the paperwork of the purchase from Home Depot. Not my fault So the technician said he had to charge me the service charge since the serial numbers did not match. Again not my fault I am going to talk with the Hone Depot Manager.

We purchased this fridge when we remodeled our kitchen in April 2021. It stopped working in February of 2024 less than 3 years later. No fridge no freezer. After a lot of research I discovered that LG is known for bad refrigerators and I wish I had done my research first. While it was under warranty still and covered my family of six had to live out of a mini fridge for a month and a half. LG sent the wrong compressor the first time so the technician had to order another one and wait for that one. I have now spoken to many technicians who told me to never purchase an LG appliance again and Im passing the information along to you all as well.

We also had to live out of coolers for those 2weeks which as far as Im concerned that was completely UNACCEPTABLE I feel we should have been give a new refrigerator instead of waiting for 2 weeks without one We will never by an LG product again

Bought this refrigerator in 2018 and have had nothing but problems. But this brand LG thinking it was a more reliable brand than some of the lesser known brands but not so. Refrigerator started making loud knocking noises within a year and would stop cooling/freezing they tried to troubleshoot the concern remotely but it continued to make this loud knocking noise at random times of day every month or two. Sears AE came out a year or so later and did not think there was anything wrong with it other than needed to dethaw/defrost the refrigerator. We did this but it has still continued to make the noises and has completely shut down cooling and freezing so we have now lost three refrigerator full of food costing us several hundreds of dollars. Another tech came out last month when it abruptly stopped working and we again lost everything in the refrigerator and freezer. Tech said it needs $1200 in parts and labor will be $400-$600 to fix now. Its now conveniently out of warrant except for the compressor which from reading online appears to be defective in all the lawsuits in past years over this linear compressor. Trying to get some resolution with LG but nothing yet and its been over a month and Im without a refrigerator. Silly that the repairs will now cost more than the cost of a new one. I had high hopes this refrigerator would last more than 5 years but have been disappointed that it will likely not.

Buyer Beware

Ridiculous situation 12/14/2023

Purchased March 31 2017 and fortunately it died at the end of November of this year 2023. Meaning: The fridge only functioned for 7 1/2 years. Customer service thinks its the compressor which is covered under the extended warranty. However we have to pay for the service call from an LG certified tech to get it okayed for the compressor to be replaced so its just sitting until I can afford for the service call. Also customer service is outsourced offshore so hard to understand what they are saying they claim theres no else to talk to regarding this unfortunate experience. Ridiculous situation.

I am now waiting for my 3rd refrig. the 1st one was damaged the 2nd one showed an error code within 24 hrs. now i hope third time is the charm. to get to the appropriate dept. was a real difficult thing to accomplish then when I did it was very confusing. as for the actual appliance it was exactly what I needed I just hope the next one wont have any issues

I bought the refer in 2016 it failed three weeks ago I called LG they dispatched a tech who arrived a week later he diagnosed and ordered parts we have not seen him since. We lost all frozen food and most refrigerated . Hence the low rating .

Well I called lg warranty and they told me thats not covered. How can a cracked wall on a refrigerator not be covered. Thats ridiculous. I hope someone in high places sees this. As others have pointed out this is a 5 year refrigerator. I did purchase the extended warranty but was a few months after it expired. Always had a whining sound from new but dont know if this was part of the reason it died. Unfortunately there arent a lot of refrigerators this size to pick from. I own all lg appliances for my home and cottage so hoping the rest have a longer life.

I actually bought this refrigerator 5 years ago on 09/19/2018 and it was delivered on 09/28/2018.I am very disappointed in both the product and LG. A few months ago I had to replace the ice maker. A few weeks ago I had to replace the compressor the condenser and the evaporator. This refrigerator was out of warranty by a little more than 2 weeks. Although the parts were covered for 7 years the labor was not. I was charged $581 for labor costs. I appealed to LG to see if they would refund me for the labor costs as it was only just out of warranty. I received a text from them telling me that according to their records my refrigerator was out of warranty by 2 months and did I have a copy of the receipt to send to them. I sent the copy of the receipt but never heard any more from them. I think LG should be embarrassed to put their name to such a poor quality product. A 5 year old refrigerator should not need to be totally rebuilt in the words of the repairman I will never buy another LG product and I will tell my family and friends to stay away from LG

The refrigerator worked perfectly for 3 years then nothing. Opened the door one morning and a whole fridge / freezer full of food is warm. A lot to pay for a fridge that only lasted 3 years. The compressor comes on for a few minutes then stops. Apparently this is a problem with this company
